"Earn KakaoMoney When You Use It" Shinhan Card Launches KakaoPay Shinhan Con Check Card

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Shinhan Card announced on the 13th that it has launched the ‘KakaoPay Shinhan Kon Check Card,’ featuring Kakao Friends’ ‘Kon’ character applied to the card plate design, in collaboration with KakaoPay.

This card is designed to be easy for customers to intuitively understand and enjoy using by removing the previous month’s spending conditions and structuring the main service so that benefits increase as the number of uses increases.

Additionally, when applying for the card through the KakaoTalk application (app) or Shinhan Card’s website, the card is automatically registered to KakaoPay immediately, allowing users to use it at KakaoPay online merchants before receiving the physical card.

First, regardless of the previous month’s spending amount, users can receive KakaoPay Money rewards based on the number of times they use the card at domestic merchants. From the 1st to the end of each month, the number of times the Kon Check Card is used for purchases of 5,000 KRW or more is counted, and the amount of KakaoPay Money rewarded increases in increments of 10 uses.

If used 10 times or more, 1,000 KRW is rewarded; 20 times or more, 2,000 KRW; 30 times or more, 4,000 KRW; and if used 70 times or more, up to 20,000 KRW can be accumulated. This adds a ‘fun’ element similar to a mission-based item acquisition structure.

There are also lifestyle-oriented services that can be frequently used in daily life. When spending 20,000 KRW or more on ‘KakaoTalk Order,’ 3,000 KRW is rewarded, and when spending 10,000 KRW or more on ‘Kakao T,’ 1,000 KRW KakaoPay Money is rewarded. These services apply if the previous month’s spending is 200,000 KRW or more and are provided twice per month each.

Furthermore, 1% of the spending amount is rewarded without previous month’s spending or limit restrictions at overseas merchants, including online, providing good benefits for customers who use overseas direct purchases.

The Kon Check Card has no separate annual fee.

Meanwhile, all customers who issue the Kon Check Card will receive a limited edition ‘Kon’ sticker as a welcome gift.

A Shinhan Card official said, “The KakaoPay Shinhan Kon Check Card satisfies customers’ emotions with the design and colors using the Kakao Friends Kon character while offering simple yet definite benefits. As it is an optimal product for the main users of check cards, the digital native generation in their 20s and 30s, we expect it to receive great responses from customers.”
