'Treasure Trove TF Team' Composed of Public Officials in Their 20s and 30s
Contributing to Collaboration and Administrative Revitalization Through Facility Utilization
Selected as Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Active Administration Hotspot'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] The 'Treasure Trove TF Team' of Sangju City, Gyeongbuk Province, composed of young public officials in their 20s and 30s, has emerged as a model of proactive administration among local governments nationwide with their fresh and lively ideas.
Less than two months after its formation, the 'Treasure Trove TF Team,' which boldly attempts to actively utilize various facilities from a new perspective, is being recognized for providing a fresh stimulus to all public officials in Sangju City.
According to Sangju City on the 13th, among the cases submitted by local governments nationwide between the third week of August and the fourth week of September, the Treasure Trove TF Team of Sangju City was selected as a 'Proactive Administration Hotspot.' Including Sangju City's case, a total of six proactive administration cases were selected nationwide this time.
The 'Proactive Administration Hotspot' system has been operated since April 2020 to disseminate and share exemplary local government administration with central government ministries and local governments. In June, a case from Hamchang-eup (development of an automatic input/output program for disaster relief fund applications) was the first to be selected from Sangju City.
The Treasure Trove TF Team, mainly composed of new public officials, received favorable reviews for contributing to interdepartmental collaboration and revitalization of city administration by devising ways to utilize various facilities in Sangju City from a new perspective. They also proposed practical measures that are difficult to suggest when outsourcing externally and achieved budget savings of tens of millions of won that would have been spent on outsourcing.
The Treasure Trove TF Team was initiated when Deputy Mayor Hyunseong Lim, who took office on July 1, suggested during departmental work reports that a comprehensive inspection and revitalization plan for major facilities in the jurisdiction might be necessary. Previous research projects had not produced satisfactory results, so the aim was to derive new measures from the perspective of young public officials.
The TF Team consists of 10 members from various fields such as general administration, architecture, civil engineering, green spaces, agriculture within the city hall, and members of an innovation club. From August 19 to September 1, they visited 36 currently operating facilities including Sangju International Equestrian Park and Hwaryeong Jeonseung Memorial Hall, held three workshops, and prepared a research report on revitalization plans for a total of 46 facilities. The TF Team's research results will be presented at the expanded executive meeting on the 16th, followed by discussions and incorporation into city administration.
Mayor Youngseok Kang of Sangju City said, "It is significant that young employees and facility management departments cooperated to consider problems and solutions for various facilities," adding, "I saw hope for Sangju City in the dedication of these employees and will fully support them to continue proactive administration."
