Easing Social Distancing... Pangyo IT Industry Stretches Out

[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] As social distancing measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have been eased to level 1, the Pangyo IT industry, which had been working remotely for a long time, is gradually switching back to office work.

According to the IT industry on the 13th, Kakao will switch to a rotational commuting system with employees coming to the office twice a week starting from the 15th.

However, pregnant women, high-risk groups, symptomatic individuals, and those who have been in contact with confirmed cases will continue remote work as before. Each team designates two specific days to come to the office. Kakao had previously implemented an indefinite remote work system in early August when COVID-19 cases resurged.

Naver announced a company-wide notice that from the 19th, it will implement a rotational work system of "2 days in the office, 3 days remote" for two weeks. Since COVID-19 infections are still occurring in various places, Naver plans to maintain remote work until the end of this week.

Game companies located in Pangyo, such as Nexon and NCSoft, are still maintaining the "rotational commuting" system. Nexon and NCSoft currently have employees coming to the office three days a week and working remotely two days a week.

NHN also maintains remote work but designates every Monday and Thursday as "collaboration days," allowing department heads discretion to work from the office on those days.
