Operating Specialized Programs Like 3D Modeling for Youth Facing Employment Challenges Amid COVID-19... ▲Figure 3D Modeling Program ▲Character Motion Graphics ▲Emoticon Making... 6-8 Sessions Until October 31... Open to Youth Aged 19-39
Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo District, is giving a greeting speech at the opening ceremony of Mapo Youth Naru.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yudonggyun) is operating specialized programs related to 3D modeling, characters, and emoticons for young people who are having difficulty finding employment due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Mapo Youth Naru (Tojeong-ro 148-22, 2nd floor), established by Mapo-gu last December to create jobs for youth and strengthen employment and start-up competitiveness, runs media programs focused on cultural content such as 3D printing, characters, and emoticons, which are core technologies in the 4th industrial era.
The main programs include ▲Figure 3D Modeling Program ▲Character Motion Graphics ▲Making Emoticons, each conducted in 6 to 8 sessions until October 31.
The related programs are organized and operated with 3 to 4 programs every month and will be held at Mapo Youth Naru’s Make Studio and Media Studio.
Participating youth can learn processes such as Rhino 3D commands, 3D model printing, joint character creation through Illustrator, and making moving emoticons using Clip Studio through this specialized program.
Anyone aged 19 to 39 who plans to seek employment or start a business in the related fields and resides in Mapo-gu or has ties through study or work can apply.
All program courses are free of charge, and applications can be made on the Mapo Youth Naru website. For related inquiries, contact the Mapo-gu Job Support Division.
In July, Mapo-gu was selected as the top priority operator in the ‘Metropolitan Job Cafe Installation and Operation Contest’ hosted by Seoul City and received a budget of 188 million won in 2021 for youth employment support.
The Metropolitan Job Cafe is a regional hub infrastructure created by Seoul City to support youth employment by establishing youth spaces in private, public, and university sectors as job cafes, providing job information and employment support programs (employment counseling, mentoring, special lectures, etc.).
The district plans to operate Mapo Youth Naru as the Northwestern Metropolitan Job Cafe and promote various support projects such as youth employment and start-up support capacity-building programs, ICT-based maker education, programs linked with specialized institutions related to the 4th industry, and youth network programs.
Mayor Yudonggyun said, “We will enhance the competitiveness and capabilities of local youth through Mapo-gu’s unique specialized programs that respond to social changes,” and added, “We hope for the active interest and participation of young people.”
