Gwangju Education and Training Institute Operates Training for Newly Appointed Local Government Officials

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Education and Training Institute announced on the 12th that it will operate the 'Basic Training Course for New Local Government Officials' Adaptation to Public Service' for 71 newly appointed local government officials until the 16th.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Gwangju Education and Training Institute will divide the 71 newly appointed officials into two groups of 34 and 37 people each.

They plan to implement special intensive quarantine measures, including wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, complying with quarantine rules, checking body temperature twice a day, and disinfecting classrooms.

This training aims to cultivate the basic character and qualities required of new local government officials and to acquire the basic knowledge and develop the work skills necessary for job performance.

The training content consists of basic competency subjects such as courteous and communication-centered civil service response, and specialized areas that new officials must know, such as school accounting processing, salary and personnel management, and official document preparation.

In particular, on the first day of the training, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Deputy Superintendent Ryu Hyesook of the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education gave a special lecture to the newly appointed officials.

Through the special lecture, the newly appointed officials shared the vision and values of major policies in Gwangju education.

Deputy Superintendent Ryu Hyesook said, "Public officials, who serve the entire nation, must make policy decisions and execute policies based on laws and budgets," adding, "In the rapidly changing educational environment due to COVID-19, I hope new public officials empathize with the demands and missions of the times and actively respond by practicing a higher level of public service perspective."
