Asiana Operates Temporary Flight from Fukuoka, Japan to Incheon... First Since COVID-19

"Actively Considering Resuming Additional Flights on Japan Routes in the Future"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Asiana Airlines announced on the 12th that it will operate special charter flights on the Fukuoka (福岡)?Incheon route on the 13th and 28th of this month.

According to Asiana Airlines, the charter flights will depart from Fukuoka Airport at 11:00 AM and arrive at Incheon International Airport at 12:30 PM. However, the Incheon?Fukuoka route will operate without passengers due to Japan's entry restrictions.

This is the first time since Japan's foreign entry restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic that a Korean national airline has operated at Fukuoka Airport. The operation was made possible through close cooperation between the Fukuoka Consulate General, Korea Tourism Organization Fukuoka Office, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Fukuoka Trade Center, and Asiana Airlines’ local branch.

An Asiana Airlines official explained, "Due to the prolonged suspension of Korea-Japan routes in the Kyushu region, demands from Korean residents, international students, and business travelers have accumulated, leading to many requests for route resumption. To alleviate their inconvenience, we have arranged one-way charter flights."

Meanwhile, Asiana Airlines plans to actively consider additional route resumptions in line with market conditions, such as quarantine exemption measures for business travelers between the two countries, in addition to its current regular flights to Tokyo and Osaka.
