[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Regarding the speech of Chairman Kim Jong-un at the military parade held in the early morning of the 10th to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed hope for North Korea's positive response to the declaration of the end of the war and the Northeast Asia Disease Control and Health Cooperation Initiative, urging prompt participation in dialogue.


On the 11th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "We take note of North Korea's position expressed during the 75th anniversary military parade that it hopes for the restoration of inter-Korean relations as the environment becomes conducive," and added, "We look forward to North Korea's positive response to the declaration of the end of the war and the Northeast Asia Disease Control and Health Cooperation Initiative proposed by President Moon Jae-in in his keynote speech at the 75th United Nations General Assembly last September."


It then urged North Korea to promptly participate in dialogue. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "We urge North Korea to promptly participate in dialogue to create substantial progress toward the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of a permanent peace regime, as agreed upon by the leaders of South Korea, North Korea, and the United States in the Panmunjom Declaration, the Pyongyang Joint Declaration, and the Singapore Joint Statement," and added, "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to work closely with the international community to ensure stable management of the situation on the Korean Peninsula and to achieve substantial progress through dialogue and cooperation."


At the military parade commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Party on the 10th, Chairman Kim Jong-un said, "I hope the day will come soon when the health crisis is overcome and the North and South hold hands again," and "I sincerely send this warm heart to our beloved compatriots in the South." Internally, he repeatedly expressed his apologies to the residents suffering from sanctions, COVID-19, and natural disasters, wiping away tears.
