Participation in Content Creation Introducing Youth Career Experience Activities Such as Succulent Pot and Soap Making
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yoo Deok-yeol, the mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, transformed into a YouTuber to comfort residents exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and students struggling with normal school attendance.
He participated in producing video content introducing simple activities that can be enjoyed at home, such as making succulent plant pots and kneaded soap.
At the content production site held at 9:30 a.m. on the 7th on the first floor of the Dongdaemun Book Yard Library in Dongdaemun-gu Office, Mayor Yoo personally demonstrated the career experience activities conducted at the Dongdaemun Career and Job Experience Support Center.
In particular, this content was composed of natural aroma soap and succulent plants that help with hygiene management and mental and physical stability, reflecting Mayor Yoo’s wish for residents to overcome COVID-19 well.
The video, which captures everything from unboxing the experience kit to the vivid experience of making pots using the actual kit, will be available from the 13th on the ‘DBS Dongdaemun-gu Office Internet Broadcasting’ YouTube channel and the ‘Warak Tube’ YouTube channel.
As non-face-to-face education has increased due to COVID-19, Mayor Yoo has been actively participating to support it.
In April, he participated in the production of oriental medicine cooking content uploaded on the Seoul Oriental Medicine Promotion Center’s YouTube channel, personally making eggplant salad stew and balloon flower candy, and in September, he introduced foot bath salts for immune enhancement, cinnamon pest repellents, and hand wash by making them himself using the experience kit of ‘Oriental Medicine Products I Make.’
Yoo Deok-yeol, mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “I hope that during this difficult time when outdoor activities are difficult due to COVID-19, families can share small and enjoyable making activities together and support each other,” adding, “We will definitely overcome this period wisely.”
The Dongdaemun Career and Job Experience Support Center, which provided this experience program, has discovered about 20 types of career experience kits such as upcycling crafts, accessory design, and architects, and produces experience content to provide useful and fun career education at home for students and parents whose activities are restricted due to social distancing, offering them on the ‘Warak Tube’ YouTube channel.
