[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] The confectionery company Orion's newly launched 'Kkobuk Chip Choco Churros Flavor' has gained great popularity, achieving sales close to 1 million packs within a month of its release.
According to Orion on the 7th, Kkobuk Chip Choco Churros Flavor sold 960,000 packs in just over a month since its launch on the 15th of last month. The sales amount reached 1 billion KRW.
This snack is the third product in the Kkobuk Chip series, made by layering four chips, coating each layer with chocolate, and finishing with a sugar topping.
Orion reportedly developed its own equipment to apply chocolate thinly between the chips to capture the unique texture of churros.
Since its release, interest in the Choco Churros flavor has been increasing on social networking services (SNS) and online communities.
Some netizens have shared their tasting impressions of the snack on SNS. One netizen described it as "a taste you can't help but fall for after trying once." Another netizen expressed anticipation, saying, "I bought a few packs at the local supermarket and am heading home. I can't wait to try it."
Meanwhile, Kkobuk Chip is a snack introduced by Orion to the domestic confectionery market in 2017, characterized by stacking 3 to 4 single-layer snacks to eat at once. Currently, flavors such as Injeolmi and Corn Soup have been developed. Last year, it received the 'Best Snack Food Award' at 'FBIF 2019,' China's leading food and beverage forum.
