[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Shinsegae Group's ambitious project expanding its hotel business, 'Grand Josun Busan,' unveiled its curtain on the 7th. Targeting family customers, more than half of the rooms are designed for families, and various entertainment elements tailored to children's perspectives are reflected throughout the hotel. This is also interpreted as reflecting the orders of Shinsegae Group Vice Chairman Yongjin Chung, who has always emphasized experiential elements.


Shinsegae Josun Hotel announced on the 7th that it has opened 'Grand Josun Busan' in Haeundae, Busan, a representative tourist city in Korea. 'Grand Josun' is a new 5-star hotel brand of Shinsegae Josun Hotel that continues the tradition of Josun Hotel while providing a world-class hotel experience through innovation under the brand slogan 'Journey of Joy.'


Grand Josun Busan consists of a total of 330 rooms, wellness facilities such as indoor and outdoor swimming pools and saunas emphasizing the beautiful view of Haeundae, fitness centers, F&B outlets, and entertainment content. The interior design was handled by Umbert & Poyet, emerging designers in the hospitality industry representing the millennial generation. The hotel space was expressed with the keywords 'classic' and 'modern,' adding a modern sensibility to the elegance unique to Grand Josun. Art Nouveau with curved beauty and Art Deco design with simple yet splendid patterns are combined, and modern art pieces such as Pablo Picasso's lithographs and Michael Chang's monoprints are displayed throughout the hotel.


The core target of the hotel is family customers. For guests with families, a separate kids-only floor was prepared on the 8th floor, consisting of kids' rooms with three themes: sky, forest, and sea. Optimized design and space composition for family guests include various types of rooms from kids' superior to kids' suites, and among the total 330 rooms, 178 rooms, more than half, are prepared as family twin room types preferred by family guests.

They also prepared 'Josun Junior,' Josun's kids-specialized brand that maximizes experiential elements. Through various children-only amenities and activity programs, it offers diverse experiences for children and relaxation for parents. Special experiential elements that create memorable moments, such as the Josun Junior Adventure Map allowing children to explore the hotel on their own, welcome gifts, and various kids' activity programs, are applied throughout the hotel. The children-only amenities include 'Le Petit Prince' from France, inspired by The Little Prince.


A 'Landing Library' device that minimizes the inconveniences family customers face during travel is also provided. As a signature program unique to Grand Josun, it offers free rental of baby products, general travel items, health and exercise equipment, and fun & entertainment goods. Items include 'N'flix' hybrid booster (baby dining chair), 'Rayqueen' bottle sterilizer, 'Stokke' high chair and baby bathtub. The pantry space is equipped with a washing machine, dryer, and microwave.


The rooms are also furnished with the highest quality materials. For bedding, the Josun Cloud Collection is prepared, and all rooms are equipped with 'The One' line from the Beautyrest Collection by Simmons, and bedding uses 'Frette,' an Italian luxury bedding brand. Especially, the 'Royal Suite Room' and 'Grand Suite Room' are furnished with the top line of the Beautyrest Collection, 'Black Classe.' Basic amenities include the naturalism brand 'Compagnie de Provence,' and luxury beauty brand 'Jo Malone' is provided in suites and above. Natural sparkling water 'San Pellegrino,' Josun Hotel's coffee brand 'Vivente Coffee' capsules, and premium tea brand 'TWG' are provided as standard.


They also secured F&B competitiveness. Incorporating Shinsegae Josun Hotel's know-how, there are four outlets: buffet restaurant 'Aria,' modern Chinese restaurant 'Palais de Shin,' 'Lounge & Bar,' and 'Josun Deli.' At Aria, signature menus such as lamb chops, snow crab, and Indian curry are offered alongside seasonal seafood from the Busan region, providing a gourmet delight. Palais de Shin is based on Cantonese cuisine from 'Hong Yeon' at Westin Josun Seoul Hotel, combined with modern cooking methods from Escape's 'Palais de Shin,' offering authentic Cantonese dishes and casual Hong Kong-style Chinese cuisine.


Various ancillary facilities are also available. These include Busan's first Kakao Friends Adventure Park 'Ryan Sunday Land,' high-end audio screening room 'Orpheo,' book curation space 'Still Books,' children's English membership club 'Pro Mom Kinder,' spa 'Ocellas,' and art edition store 'Redition Alliance.' Affiliate tenant facilities such as coffee shop 'Starbucks' and 'Emart24' are also included. On the 5th floor, there are three banquet halls. The ballroom equipped with LED screens offers a Haeundae sea view, suitable for VIP invitation events, international conferences, and weddings.


Won Youngwook, General Manager of Grand Josun Busan, said, "Grand Josun, Shinsegae Josun Hotel's new independent 5-star brand, will create a new standard for luxury hotels with specialized services, programs, and facilities for a journey of joy," adding, "We will provide perfect moments anytime with signature programs tailored to customers' perspectives and entertainment facilities debuting in Busan."


Meanwhile, to commemorate the opening of Grand Josun Busan, a layback room package and various dining promotions will be held until the 31st. The lounge & bar offers a pizza set and J Lager, Grand Josun's craft beer, along with various F&B benefits and a 2 PM late checkout service. Guests staying on the opening day will receive a commemorative mug as a gift, and followers of the hotel's official Instagram will be given Josun Junior character balloons on a first-come, first-served basis for five days.
