"Trump Discharge Decision Delayed Until Late Today"

[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] Mark Meadows, White House Chief of Staff, announced on the 5th (local time) that President Donald Trump, who is hospitalized after contracting the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), will make the final decision to be discharged this afternoon.


Meadows said in consecutive interviews with NBC and Fox News that morning, "The discharge decision has not been made yet. President Trump and his medical team will make the final decision late this afternoon."

He added, "President Trump's condition continued to improve overnight," and "He is ready to return to a normal work schedule."


The medical team had predicted a day earlier that President Trump would be discharged as early as the 5th. Afterwards, President Trump briefly left the hospital by car and responded to supporters' cheers, causing controversy.


President Trump also hinted at his imminent discharge by posting a series of tweets that morning. He posted 19 tweets that morning, mostly encouraging voting and emphasizing his policies.
