Trump "I Won the Debate"...Opposes Rule Changes

On Twitter, "Why Should the Debate Commission Change the Rules?"

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his disagreement with changing the format of the TV presidential debates. President Trump mentioned last month that he was the winner of the debate.

On the 1st (local time), President Trump stated on Twitter, "I easily won the last TV debate, so why should I allow the debate commission to change the rules for the 2nd and 3rd TV debates?" expressing his opposition. Earlier, President Trump said, "Looking at the accumulated polls, I won the TV debate."

During the presidential candidate TV debate on the 29th of last month, President Trump interrupted and disrupted Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's remarks. Because of this, a proper debate could not continue. Eventually, the two candidates engaged in a heated argument over interrupting each other's speaking time.

As criticism continued regarding the debate's conduct, the debate commission announced plans to change the rules. However, President Trump's side expressed opposition to the rule changes.

Immediately after the last debate, U.S. media criticized it using expressions such as "terrible debate" and "total chaos." President Trump interrupted Biden's remarks dozens of times, and an exasperated Biden shouted phrases like "clown" and "shut up."

Because of this, some speculated whether Biden's side would participate in the remaining two TV debates. According to The Washington Post (WP), a Biden campaign official said in a phone call with reporters after the presidential debate, "Biden will continue to participate in the debates," and "He will continue to engage with the American people."

The two candidates will have two more TV debates on the 15th and 22nd of this month. The vice-presidential candidates' TV debate is scheduled for the 7th.
