[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] During the Chuseok holiday, the "Emperor of Trot" Na Hoon-a met the public through a non-face-to-face concert, receiving a positive response from the political sphere. In particular, the opposition highlighted his candid remarks directed at politicians, sparking a heated reaction.

Won Hee-ryong, Governor of Jeju from the People Power Party, said on his Facebook on the 1st, "The Emperor of Song moved the entire nation. Regardless of gender, generation, or region, everyone seems captivated by Na Hoon-a."

Governor Won wrote, "I felt energized and excited, but on the other hand, I also felt a sense of self-reproach. Having been in politics for nearly 20 years and doing my best, I feel utterly ashamed compared to this artist."

Jang Je-won, a member of the same party, also posted on Facebook, "South Korea is deeply intoxicated by Na Hoon-a," adding, "He gave true comfort to the weary hearts of the people." He praised, "Not power, wealth, or academic background, but every phrase and word he emits unites, moves, and comforts the hearts of the people. His influence is insane."

Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province from the Democratic Party, wrote on Facebook, "His songs, deeply infused with the hardships of life, have accompanied moments of my life, and he remains my idol," adding, "His words about thinking of stepping down now make me feel the fleeting nature of a short life." He also expressed support, saying, "I hope to someday receive an autograph at a live concert once COVID-19 is over."

Na Hoon-a, during his broadcast performance lasting two and a half hours on the night of the 30th of last month, said, "This country was protected by you today. We can definitely overcome COVID-19," and made candid remarks, "Even looking at history books, I have never seen a king or president who risked their life for the people."

He also said, "If the power of the people exists, rulers cannot arise." Addressing KBS, he said, "You listen to the voice of the people and broadcast for the people, right? You will be reborn from now on."
