[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] A woman in her 40s was sentenced to prison for repeatedly shocking a neighbor with a stun gun, causing injury, amid conflicts over noise between floors.
On the 1st, the Cheongju District Court (Criminal Division 1, Presiding Judge Nam Seong-woo) sentenced A (45, female), who was charged with aggravated assault, to 1 year and 2 months in prison with a 2-year probation. Additionally, she was ordered to perform 240 hours of community service.
A was accused and brought to trial for using a stun gun, which she had purchased in advance, against B (27, female), a resident living in the apartment below her in Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungbuk, around 8 p.m. on February 1, amid conflicts over noise between floors.
It is reported that A repeatedly shocked B’s face, hands, and neck with the stun gun after B, who frequently had conflicts over noise between floors, came to her and verbally abused her.
Furthermore, A reportedly chased after B, who was screaming and trying to escape, and administered shocks.
Meanwhile, the court stated, "Considering that the defendant, who is raising her child alone, admitted to the crime and showed remorse, and that she has no prior criminal record except for two fines, the sentence was determined."
