[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu announced on the 30th that all 28 inpatients at 'Dana Hospital' located in Chang 5-dong, who were newly confirmed positive for COVID-19, are being transferred to nationally designated hospital beds.
On September 29, two confirmed cases (#202, #203) were identified at Dana Hospital in Chang 5-dong. Following this, the district completed rapid specimen collection for all 210 individuals, including 166 remaining inpatients and 44 staff members at the hospital.
As a result, 28 inpatients tested positive, 127 tested negative, and 11 were subject to retesting. The 11 individuals requiring retesting will be monitored and tested again later. To date, 30 confirmed cases related to Dana Hospital have been identified, all of whom are inpatients, while all 44 staff members tested negative.
After specimen collection, the district took preemptive measures such as coordinating emergency transfers with 119 emergency services and securing inpatient rooms in preparation for a potential surge in cases. All 28 confirmed patients are scheduled to be transferred to nationally designated hospital beds on the same day.
The district is implementing both internal and external measures to prevent further transmission within the community. The entire hospital has been placed under cohort isolation, emergency disinfection and access control orders have been issued, and all patients sharing rooms with confirmed cases have been quarantined.
Additionally, disinfection is conducted once daily, and hospital staff are required to wear protective clothing at all times.
Furthermore, Dobong-gu, Seoul City, and epidemiologists from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency are conducting in-depth epidemiological investigations of inpatients and staff.
In particular, all discharged patients, outpatients, and visitors are undergoing comprehensive testing regardless of symptoms. Those in quarantine must be tested before release, with all efforts focused on blocking additional infections and contacts.
Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, “We ask all residents who have visited Dana Hospital in Chang 5-dong since September 15 to contact the health center and undergo diagnostic testing regardless of symptoms. We urge everyone to remain vigilant and continue practicing social distancing and personal hygiene in daily life. We will do our utmost to ensure this cluster infection is resolved quickly.”
