Visited the Autonomous Police Unit on the 30th to Encourage Staff... Urged Maintenance of COVID-19 Emergency Work System
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Chang-won] Won Hee-ryong, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, visited the Jeju Autonomous Police Agency on the morning of the first day of the Chuseok holiday, the 30th, to encourage the staff and urge them to maintain the COVID-19 emergency duty system.
At the event, Governor Won said, “The Autonomous Police Agency is a special weapon that Jeju possesses,” and expressed his gratitude to the agency’s staff, saying, “Having the Autonomous Police Agency always makes me feel reassured and proud.”
He added, “COVID-19 has continued for nine months, and every day is an emergency situation. I always feel sorry for the staff, but the Autonomous Police Agency must protect Jeju Province and its residents and get through the Chuseok holiday well. Only then can the public’s evaluation of Jeju improve,” urging them to devote all efforts to COVID-19 prevention.
He continued, “I ask the executives to demonstrate leadership so that the Autonomous Police Agency staff can encourage and support each other and have confidence and a sense of accomplishment with joy.”
He also said, “I will be on 5-minute standby myself during the Chuseok holiday,” and added, “I will take special care to ensure that the emergency duty system centered on the Autonomous Police runs smoothly during the holiday period.”
Along with this, he emphasized, “If the issues promoted by the Autonomous Police Agency are actively publicized, the psychological safety satisfaction felt by the residents can also increase,” and urged, “Please continue to promote that the Jeju Autonomous Police Agency is doing well, not only in Jeju but to the entire nation.”
The Autonomous Police Agency has established an emergency duty system from September 25 to October 4 and is making every effort to block and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community by mobilizing available personnel to the maximum.
Out of the total 417 members of the Autonomous Police Agency, 197 are deployed daily for special emergency duty, and 31 patrol cars and 4 motorcycles are operated at all times.
Additionally, during the Chuseok holiday period, they plan to strengthen △support duty for unexpected situations at four quarantine facilities △special intensive inspections of high-risk infection-vulnerable facilities* △enhanced mask-mandatory quarantine patrol activities at major tourist sites △24-hour rapid response readiness △quarantine support duty at ports and airports △strengthened monitoring of fair Jeju tourism and constant inspection of complaints about quarantine guideline violations △field activities to prevent school violence and juvenile delinquency △special traffic management in congested areas during the Chuseok holiday.
Meanwhile, starting with the visit to the Autonomous Police Agency on this day, Governor Won plans to encourage staff and check operational status by visiting △the Autonomous Administration and Comprehensive Situation Room on October 1 △the CCTV Control Center and Yangji Park on October 2 △the 119 Comprehensive Situation Room on October 3 △and Jeju International Airport Walk-through on October 4.
