[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] The Russian government announced on the 30th that the second vaccine for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has completed clinical trials and has been submitted for official registration (national approval) procedures.

Anna Popova, head of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, stated on the same day, "The clinical trials for the COVID-19 vaccine being developed by the State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology VECTOR under the supervision of the agency have been completed."

VECTOR has submitted the documents required for the official registration of the vaccine to the health authorities, and the registration process is expected to take about three weeks.

The local Ministry of Health is reportedly planning to complete the approval process for the VECTOR vaccine around mid-October. Once officially registered, the VECTOR vaccine will become the second vaccine worldwide to receive national approval as a COVID-19 vaccine.
