Population Increased by Approximately 3,800 After Moving into Oryong District
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Muan-gun Illo-eup (Eupjang Ham Kyung-hoon) announced on the 30th that since the move-in to Oryong District in August, the population has increased by about 3,800 over two months, surpassing 10,000 people again for the first time in 18 years since the population fell below 10,000 in 2003 due to rural aging.
As of the 24th, the population that moved into Illo-eup since August is 3,831, of which 2,338 people moved in from other cities, counties, and districts.
In Oryong District, 1,310 households have moved in, with an occupancy rate of 43.9%, and more newly completed apartments are about to be occupied, so the population of Illo-eup is expected to continue increasing for the time being.
A county official said, "The population was maintained at around 6,500 until July, but recently, with the start of move-ins to Oryong District, the population has exceeded 10,000."
Ham Kyung-hoon, the head of Illo-eup, said, "As many households newly move into Oryong District in Illo-eup, we will prepare measures to actively respond to administrative demands to meet the needs of residents."
