Following the 2020 main budget of 153.4 billion, an additional 19.4 billion confirmed in the 3rd and 4th supplementary budgets
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Im Man-gyun, a member of the 10th Seoul Metropolitan Council's 2nd Budget and Accounts Special Committee (Democratic Party·Gwanak 3), recently secured an additional budget of 19.4 billion KRW for Gwanak-gu during the review of the supplementary budgets for Seoul City and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.
As a result, the total budget for Gwanak-gu was finalized at 172.8 billion KRW, which includes the original budget of 153.4 billion KRW plus the supplementary budget of 19.4 billion KRW for this year.
Since being appointed as a member of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee in August last year, Im Man-gyun has reviewed a total of four supplementary budgets, including the main budget for 2020.
He has especially been vocal in the emergency supplementary budget allocations aimed at overcoming COVID-19, such as the provision of emergency disaster relief funds.
Im stated, “To overcome the unprecedented crisis caused by COVID-19, I focused the budget review on revitalizing the local economy and strengthening the social safety net.” He added, “I also carefully examined the related local budgets to ensure the continuous development of Gwanak-gu and the advancement of key pending issues.”
According to Im, the budget for Gwanak-gu allocated through the 3rd and 4th supplementary budget reviews includes approximately 19.4 billion KRW for projects such as ▲ construction of the Sillim public garage (8.278 billion KRW), ▲ creation of the Gwanaksan Entrance Euddeum Park project (500 million KRW), ▲ removal of the Dorimcheon covering and creation of waterfront space (3 billion KRW), ▲ establishment of child safety video information infrastructure (installation of speed enforcement cameras around elementary schools in child protection zones) (279 million KRW), ▲ creation of startup support facilities in Daehak-dong (200 million KRW), and ▲ support and activation of public art artists (400 million KRW).
Additionally, the main budget for Gwanak-gu already allocated this year includes approximately 153.4 billion KRW for projects such as ▲ construction of the Sillim Line light rail (60.076 billion KRW), ▲ comprehensive maintenance of sewage pipelines (14.5 billion KRW), ▲ creation of the Gwanak Startup Center including Daehak-dong (3.078 billion KRW), ▲ Nan-gok and Nan-hyang-dong urban regeneration New Deal projects (2.716 billion KRW), ▲ 10-minute neighborhood comprehensive residential regeneration project (1 billion KRW), ▲ modernization of traditional market facilities (900 million KRW), and ▲ Nan-gok-dong alleyway regeneration project (400 million KRW), all of which are currently being implemented by Seoul City and Gwanak-gu.
Im concluded, “As I wrap up my activities in the 2nd Budget and Accounts Special Committee, I feel deeply honored to have contributed to overcoming the COVID-19 national crisis and improving the local environment,” and added, “I will continue to devote myself fully to legislative activities for the development of Gwanak-gu.”
