Assemblywoman Gominjeong and Park Samrye, Chairperson of Gwangjin District Council, Visit Gwangjin Fire Station on 29th for Encouragement
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Although the Chuseok holiday has begun, there are people who continue to work without rest.
The reason we can all spend a comfortable and warm holiday every year is because there are people who silently protect the safety of residents in unseen places without resting even during the holidays.
The Gwangjin District Council (Chairperson Samrye Park) visited the Gwangjin Fire Station, the frontline institution for residents' safety, on the 29th ahead of the Chuseok holiday together with National Assembly member Gomin Jeong (Gwangjin Eul) to encourage the efforts of firefighters protecting residents' safety during the Chuseok holiday.
The 8th Gwangjin District Council, which has worked hard to communicate not only with residents but also with related organizations, has laid the foundation for a safe Gwangjin District through meetings with the Gwangjin Fire Station.
As the 8th council enters its second half amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, which has increased residents' demands for safety, Chairperson Samrye Park emphasized that safety should not be seen as the responsibility of a single institution but that all related organizations should become agents of safety and respond together.
In particular, this visit was conducted with a minimal number of people as part of social distancing measures, and it was a time to express gratitude and encouragement to firefighters working 24 hours during the Chuseok holiday for residents' safety, as well as to discuss the promotion of establishing a new 119 Safety Center at the district’s retention basin to secure the golden time for disaster response.
Chairperson Samrye Park stated, “With the transition of firefighting personnel to national status in April this year and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic expanding infectious diseases equivalent to national disasters, the responsibility for firefighting duties regarding various disasters has been strengthened. Accordingly, the treatment of firefighters working on the front lines for residents' safety should also be improved. The Gwangjin District Council will continue to listen to voices from the field through ongoing communication and cooperation with related organizations and strive to produce realistic policies.”
