[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is scheduled to visit South Korea on July 7-8, the State Department announced on the 29th (local time).

According to the State Department, Secretary Pompeo will visit Japan, Mongolia, and South Korea over a five-day period from July 4 to 8.

On the 6th, Secretary Pompeo will visit Japan to attend the "Quad" meeting, which includes the foreign ministers of the United States, Japan, India, and Australia, and will discuss mutual interests with his Japanese counterpart.

The schedule for the South Korea visit has not been disclosed. However, it is known that he will hold talks with senior officials, and given the ongoing push for South Korea's participation in the "Asian NATO" Quad, there is a strong possibility that this topic will be discussed.
