"Targeted Lockdown Needed... Everyone Is Bound to Die"
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] Elon Musk, CEO of electric vehicle company Tesla, has expressed his intention not to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
The New York Post reported on the 29th (local time) that Musk made these remarks during an appearance on the New York Times (NYT) podcast 'Sway' the day before.
Musk claimed, "Neither my children nor I are at risk (from COVID-19), and even if vaccines become easily accessible, neither I nor my family will get vaccinated."
Musk once again expressed dissatisfaction with the economic lockdown measures in California, where Tesla's factory is located. In May, he strongly opposed the California health authorities' order to halt Tesla factory operations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Musk stated, "There is no winning with that (full lockdown order)." He added, "Only those who might be at risk from COVID should be isolated until the storm passes."
When the host criticized that this approach could lead to more COVID deaths, Musk responded, "Everyone eventually dies."
Musk also openly showed antagonism toward Microsoft (MS) founder Bill Gates, calling him a 'fool.'
Gates, who retired from MS and has been supporting infectious disease prevention, criticized Musk in July for not understanding COVID well.
When Gates posted a blog doubting the effectiveness of electric vehicles, Musk once responded with a sarcastic remark, "He has no answers."
