[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] On the afternoon of the 29th, Choi Young-jin, Vice Chairman of the Personal Information Protection Commission, visited Wondang Market in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, to inspect the management status of entry logs for COVID-19 prevention.

Vice Chairman Choi reviewed the operation status of the 'Safe Call' system, where visitors make a phone call to a specific number, and the visitor's mobile phone number, visit date and time, and other records are automatically saved on the Goyang City Hall server.

The Safe Call system allows visitors not to write their contact information on the log, and the call records are automatically deleted after 4 weeks. Vice Chairman Choi met with Lee Jae-jun, Mayor of Goyang, to exchange opinions on the utilization status of Safe Call and the expansion of its implementation areas.

Vice Chairman Choi said, "Personal information is a precious right of the people that must be protected under any emergency situation," adding, "We will actively discover and spread best practices for personal information protection even amid the COVID-19 situation, such as the Safe Call case in Goyang City."
