"Chuseok Like Never Experienced Before, Including North Korea's Atrocities"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min criticized the incident involving the shooting of a missing public official from Yeonpyeong Island by North Korea on the 29th, saying, “The President of the Republic of Korea was not present at the time and place where the President should have been,” and added, “President Moon Jae-in consistently showed zero empathy, evaded the truth, avoided responsibility, and detached himself from reality. The truth about how much responsibility the President holds for the numerous illegal and corrupt acts committed by this administration has not been revealed at all.”
On the same day, Yoo said on Facebook, “With COVID-19, economic recession, worries about monthly rent and employment, and even North Korea’s atrocities, this Chuseok is unlike any we have ever experienced, so I cannot greet you with a peaceful heart.”
Yoo stated, “The South Korean citizen who was shot and burned by North Korea in the West Sea on the night of September 22 was coldly abandoned by the President and the military,” and criticized, “There have been countless incomprehensible actions and words from President Moon, but in the letter he sent to North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un, he said, ‘I pay respect to your strong will to respect life.’ And this letter was openly revealed three days after our citizen was shot and burned. No matter how much I try to understand, I cannot comprehend this.”
Yoo sharpened his criticism, saying, “Respect for life?whose life is that? Is it not the life of our citizen who was shot and burned in the West Sea? What kind of mindset did President Moon have to speak of respect for life to Kim Jong-un, who mercilessly killed his own relatives and North Korean residents before brutally killing innocent South Korean citizens?”
Yoo said, “A President who abandons the lives of the people and clings to ‘praising Kim Jong-un,’ and a military that cannot protect the lives of the people?how we will punish their crimes and how we will restore the Republic of Korea that we love, I sincerely hope this Chuseok will be a time to think about these matters together.”
