[Asia Economy Reporter Sung Ki-ho] As the Chuseok holiday approaches, which involves many long-distance trips, hydrogen car drivers are focusing on where hydrogen charging stations are located. Although the number of hydrogen cars continues to increase thanks to government subsidies for eco-friendly vehicles, the number of charging stations located on major highways remains limited. Therefore, it is advised to plan charging in advance before driving.
According to the 'Low Emission Vehicle Integrated Website' on the 30th, there are 37 hydrogen charging stations nationwide. The government plans to increase this number to 310 by 2022, but it is still insufficient.
Looking specifically at the charging stations installed nationwide: ▲ Seoul 4 (National Assembly, Yangjae, Sangam, Gangdong) ▲ Busan 2 (Busan, Seobusan NK) ▲ Incheon 1 (H Incheon) ▲ Gwangju 3 (Jingok, Donggok, Gwangju Imam) ▲ Daejeon 1 (Hakha) ▲ Ulsan 6 (Eonyang Rest Area (Seoul direction), Green·Shinil Complex Charging Station, Maeam·Gyeongdong, Okdong LPG Hydrogen Complex Charging Station) ▲ Sejong 1 (Hynet Sejong Government Complex) ▲ Gyeonggi 4 (Hanam Dream, Yeoju Rest Area (Gangneung direction), Anseong Rest Area (Busan direction), Anseong Rest Area (Seoul direction)) ▲ Gangwon 1 (Samcheok) ▲ Chungbuk 3 (Cheongju, Dowon, Yeonsu) ▲ Chungnam 1 (Naepo Hydrogen Charging Station) ▲ Jeonbuk 2 (Wanju 2) ▲ Jeonnam 2 (Hynet SPG·Baekyangsa Rest Area (Cheonan direction)) ▲ Gyeongbuk 1 (Seongju Rest Area (Yangpyeong direction)) ▲ Gyeongnam 4 (Haman (Busan direction), Changwon Seongju·Changwon Pallyong·Changwon Deokdong).
Among these, a total of 8 hydrogen charging stations are operating at highway rest areas (Anseong, Eonyang, Baekyangsa, Seongju, Yeoju, Haman, Hanam Mannam Rest Areas).
Additionally, there are no hydrogen car charging stations in Jeju, and Incheon, Daejeon, Gangwon, Chungnam, and Gyeongbuk each have only one station. In the case of Gyeongbuk, since the station is only located at Seongju Rest Area, drivers must check the charging station in advance before traveling within the region.
Furthermore, since operating hours vary by region and charging station, it is necessary to confirm whether the station is open by phone or other means before heading there.
An automotive industry official said, "When driving a hydrogen car in rural areas, it is necessary to set the route in advance and check if charging is possible," adding, "Especially during holidays, it is important to calculate the route generously considering traffic congestion."
