[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 29th, Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong commented on the exoneration of Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae's son and the North Korean shooting incident involving a missing public official from Yeonpyeong Island, stating, "I am angry about the controversy over Minister Choo's son's preferential leave and North Korea's atrocity itself," and added, "But I am even more angry that these matters are being resolved in this way."
Governor Won said on Facebook that day, "Even though the prosecution's lenient investigation clearly revealed his lies, I cannot tolerate the shamelessness of calling it 'reckless political attacks' and 'prosecution reform.' Also, a father in his 40s with two children was brutally killed in a way that is hard to express in words, yet some people, under the banner of peace on the Korean Peninsula, oppress those who are angry?this blatant hypocrisy is intolerable."
Governor Won asked, "What is peace?" and stated, "Isn't peace about protecting the lives of the people and ensuring the safety of the nation?"
He added, "Many people in power have claimed justice and peace. However, it has been rare for those in power to wrap their immorality, incompetence, and cowardice in the guise of justice and peace," and said, "Right now, we are having justice and peace stolen by those in power."
