'Billboard Global 200' and 'Billboard Global' Both No. 1
"Thanks to ARMY, Another Miracle Happened"
Momentum Expected to Continue with Online Concert and New Album 'BE' Release
The group BTS's "Dynamite" has reclaimed the number one spot on the US Billboard main singles chart, the "Hot 100."
On the 28th (local time), Billboard reported that BTS's "Dynamite" rose back to number one on the latest "Hot 100" chart (for the week of September 18?24). The song had initially topped the chart for two consecutive weeks after its release. It then held the second position for two weeks before returning to the top spot in its fifth week. It is the first time in about two years since Maroon 5's "Girls Like You," which was number one for seven weeks from September to November 2018, that a duo or group's song has stayed at number one on the "Hot 100" for more than three weeks. "WAP" by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, which had been number one for the past two weeks, dropped to number two.
The "Hot 100" is a weekly chart ranking the most popular songs in the United States. It compiles results based on streaming performance, digital sales, and radio airplay. It is considered more competitive than the main album chart, the "Billboard 200," and is known to present higher barriers for non-English songs. In response to reclaiming the top spot, BTS expressed their gratitude on social media, saying, "Thanks to ARMY, another miracle has happened." Their agency, Big Hit Entertainment, also said, "We sincerely thank ARMY for their continuous support."
"Dynamite" showed balanced growth in downloads (digital sales), streaming, and radio airplay in the US. Downloads notably surged by 96% from the previous week to 153,000 copies. Billboard attributed this to the release of four remix versions (Bedroom, Midnight, Retro, Slow Jam) on the 18th. These remix versions accounted for 52% of the total sales of "Dynamite" in this tracking period.
"Dynamite" also led the "Digital Song Sales" chart for five consecutive weeks. This is the first time since Lizzo's "Truth Hurts" topped this chart for five weeks from September to October last year. Streaming increased by 11% from the previous week to 14 million plays. Radio airplay (tracked from the 21st to the 27th) also rose by 8%, reaching an audience of approximately 20.8 million listeners. Thanks to this, "Dynamite" achieved its highest position ever at number 42 on the "Radio Songs" chart, which ranks songs based on airplay across all radio genres.
On the newly established "Billboard Global 200" and the "Billboard Global Excl. U.S." charts, both launched on the 15th, "Dynamite" also reached number one. It was streamed 92.1 million times across more than 200 countries and regions worldwide. Downloads increased by 102% from the previous week to 58,000 copies. With this continuous upward trend, it became the first song to top all three main Billboard charts.
BTS will continue their momentum with an online concert, "BTS MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E," on October 10?11. They will also release a new album, "BE," on November 20. The members participated in all aspects of the album's production, including music, composition, and design, to tell their own stories through the songs. Big Hit Entertainment stated, "It will be an album that conveys comfort to fans worldwide and to the world."
