Indie Musician Live Video Platform
10th Anniversary Project and Various Limited Edition Goods
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] This year marks the 10th anniversary of Naver Onstage, which is gaining attention as a live video platform that supports the growth of indie musicians. Onstage is an indie musician creation support project by the Naver Cultural Foundation.
According to Naver on the 29th, the Onstage live video featuring the gugak band Dainalchi performing together with the contemporary dance group Ambiguous Dance Company surpassed 4.08 million views. Singers Choi Hangseok, Boogimonster, and Park Moonchi also attracted great attention after being featured in Onstage live videos. Since 2010, Onstage has been presenting the music of talented musicians to the public.
Over the past 10 years, Onstage has discovered about 540 teams, producing and introducing 1,600 live video contents at a rate of one team per week. In addition, it has expanded the scope of indie musician creation support by supporting offline live performances, music production, and returning all profits to the musicians. To date, it has surpassed 200 million views, covering dozens of music genres including gugak, blues, world music, and hip-hop, establishing itself as an indie music channel.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, Onstage is conducting the '10NSTAGE (Tenstage)' project to re-examine indie musicians and indie music. The Tenstage project includes various events such as 'Onstage to Me,' where 20 musicians present new music based on fans' stories, 'On·Pick,' a music fan vote that organizes 10 years of Onstage music records, and the release of the Onstage Best 100 songs as music tracks.
Onstage is also collaborating with Naver's music platforms to commemorate its 10th anniversary. It is conducting limited edition goods events including the VIBE magazine in partnership with Naver's music service VIBE.
On the streaming service 'Now,' where users can enjoy 24-hour live streaming on the Naver app, Onstage live videos will be available in October, and various forms of collaboration to support indie musicians, including a jointly planned 10th anniversary program, will be carried out.
Lim Ji-in, Secretary General of the Naver Cultural Foundation, said, "Ten years ago, in a music market skewed towards popularity rankings and famous musicians, Onstage quietly supported the creation of indie musicians who had talent but were thirsty for proper live videos that were not yet known." She added, "Even now, after 10 years, there are many musicians hidden around us, so we will continue to strive to support musician creation that the public can enjoy together."
