TS Shampoo PBA-LPBA Championship 2020 Opening D-1, What Has Changed This Season?

The second tour event, the ‘TS Shampoo PBA-LPBA Championship 2020,’ will be held on Wednesday, the 30th, at the Mayfield Hotel in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

Competing for a total prize of 290 million KRW, the ‘TS Shampoo PBA-LPBA Championship 2020’ is scheduled to take place over five days from September 30 to October 4, during the Chuseok holiday period. The LPBA finals will be held on October 3, followed by the PBA finals on October 4.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, the tournament prioritized the safety of participating players and staff from the outset. During the event, a professional disinfection company will conduct daily sanitization and disinfection. All personnel, including players, must pass temperature checks and complete health questionnaires without any issues to enter the venue. Everyone inside the venue, including tournament officials and players, must wear masks, and ‘TSGUARD Safe All Hand Sanitizer,’ a hand sanitizer approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as a quasi-drug, will be placed throughout the venue.

The preliminary round draw, conducted as a survival format, has produced a ‘group of death.’ This group includes David Martinez (Spain, Crown Haitai Raon), who ranked first in last season’s ranking points; Kim Nam-su (TS·JDX Heroes), who has shown strong performance in the PBA Team League; Filippos Kasidokostas (Greece, TS·JDX Heroes), last season’s inaugural PBA champion and ranked second; and Lee Sang-yong. In the women’s division, amateur 3-cushion billiards powerhouse Kim Min-a is attracting attention. All eyes are on what kind of performance she will show in the tour event after turning professional. Additionally, high expectations are placed on players like Lee Mi-rae (TS·JDX Heroes), Kim Ga-young (Shinhan Alphas), and Kim Ye-eun (Wellbang Phoenix), who have demonstrated high-level play in the PBA Team League.

Expecting the First Winner of the 10 Million KRW ‘TS Shampoo Perfect Cue’

Fans and officials are also focused on whether the first winner of the ‘TS Shampoo Perfect Cue’ will emerge. The ‘TS Shampoo Perfect Cue,’ which awards 10 million KRW each to male and female players, is a special prize given when a player finishes a set with a single cue shot while the opponent’s score is zero. Unlike the previous season, this season includes the final set, increasing the possibility of crowning the first winner.
