[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 38 on the 29th. It is the first time in 49 days since August 11 (34 cases) that the daily number of confirmed cases has fallen below 50.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on that day, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases rose by 38 from the previous day to 23,699.
Regarding the infection routes of the new confirmed cases, 23 were locally transmitted and 15 were imported from overseas.
Among the locally transmitted cases, 11 were in Seoul and 6 in Gyeonggi Province, totaling 17 cases in the metropolitan area. In addition, confirmed cases were reported in Busan (3), Gyeongbuk (2), and Chungbuk (1).
Of the 15 imported confirmed cases, 9 were identified during the quarantine process upon entry. The remaining cases tested positive while in self-quarantine at their residences or temporary living facilities in regions such as Gyeonggi (4) and Chungnam (2).
The number of patients who have been declared recovered and released from isolation increased by 178 from the previous day to 21,470. The death toll rose by 1 to 407.
