[Golf Topic] "Saudi Arabia's First Women's Golf Tournament" Held Twice in November

[Asia Economy Kim Hyun-jun, Golf Specialist Reporter] ○…Saudi Arabia is set to host its first-ever women's golf tournament….

The Ladies European Tour (LET) announced on the 29th (Korean time) that "two tournaments will be held in Saudi Arabia this coming November." The starting point is the Aramco Saudi Ladies International (total prize money of $1 million), which opens on November 12 at the Royal Greens Golf Club (par 72) in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia. Originally scheduled for March, it was postponed by eight months due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The tournament is drawing even more spotlight as it is held in Saudi Arabia, where women's rights have been limited, with women only being allowed to enter sports venues and drive since 2018. A total of 108 LET players will participate. From the 17th, the same venue will host The Saudi Ladies Team International (total prize money of $500,000). Thirty-six teams, each composed of four players, will compete in a team event to determine the winning team.
