[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT announced on the 29th that it will hold a non-face-to-face greeting event using the ‘Nareul’ video call app and an attendance check event that gives prizes just for logging into ‘Game Box’ during the Chuseok holiday.
‘Nareul’ is a video call app utilizing 3D avatars and AR emotickers, offering a communication service that allows group video calls of up to 8 people regardless of the telecom provider. During calls, users can send photos or files, and enjoy content such as watching YouTube together and picture quizzes. Recently, due to COVID-19, usage has increased more than threefold compared to before the pandemic, as it is widely used for checking in with family and friends or for business video meetings.
KT is also conducting a ‘Game Box’ attendance check event that can be comfortably enjoyed at home during the holiday. ‘Game Box’ is a subscription service that allows access to over 110 games for a monthly fee of 4,950 KRW regardless of the telecom provider. Games run on KT’s cloud servers, enabling users to enjoy high-spec games freely with just a smartphone.
The Game Box attendance check event runs from September 30 to October 4, the Chuseok holiday period. Users who log in and check attendance for three or more days are automatically entered into a drawing. Prizes include a 100,000 KRW Shinsegae gift certificate for 1st place (1 person), 50,000 KRW Shinsegae gift certificates for 2nd place (2 people), and 5,000 KRW Shinsegae gift certificates for 3rd place (500 people).
To celebrate Chuseok, KT is also offering new games such as the popular wrestling game WWE2K20, the action puzzle game Fly ’N’ (Pline), and Avicii Invector, a game featuring the famous late DJ Avicii’s hit songs. Even non-subscribers can enjoy 10 recommended games for free or try paid games with a 5-minute trial play.
Lee Sung-hwan, Executive Director of KT’s 5G/GiGA Business Division, said, "KT has prepared various Chuseok events to offer some comfort to customers tired from COVID-19. We hope families can exchange greetings through the ‘Nareul’ video call and enjoy a pleasant holiday with ‘Game Box’."
