[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Kia Motors' infotainment system UX (user experience) has been recognized for its world-class competitiveness by winning a special award at a prestigious European design award.
On the 29th, Kia announced that the dynamic theme applied to the K5 cluster won the 'Special Mention' award in the Interactive User Experience category at the 2021 German Design Award.
The German Design Award, organized by the German Design Council, has maintained its reputation for about 50 years since 1969 as a globally prestigious design award. It is also called the 'championship tournament' of international design awards because it only judges and awards works that are directly invited, along with strict participation qualifications.
This award is especially meaningful as Kia proved its world-class infotainment UX competitiveness in Germany, the home of European automobiles such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
The K5 cluster dynamic theme that won this time is characterized by being the world's first real-time weather, time, and speed-linked cluster theme, showing ever-changing real scenery through graphics such as clear skies, raindrops, and sunsets.
The German Design Award commented on the K5 dynamic cluster theme, saying, "It delivers traditional instrument panel information more emotionally, providing drivers with new enjoyment while offering comfort and immersion during driving," and added, "The outstanding cluster technology, including a high-resolution display capable of wide color reproduction and technology that can apply various motion effects, is also impressive," explaining the background of this award.
Kia Motors develops vehicle interfaces aiming to provide enjoyment and convenience throughout the entire driving journey, and recently, the Seltos was selected as one of the Top 10 Best UX Winners by WardsAuto, consecutively winning at prestigious interface design award ceremonies.
A Kia Motors official said, "This award has become an opportunity to showcase the excellence of Kia's infotainment UX," and added, "We will continue to strive to provide drivers with a more comfortable and enjoyable user experience."
