Continuing Contactless Communication with 'Mapo inn, Maeul Intact'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) is commemorating the 2020 Seoul Village Week by reflecting on the meaning and achievements of village communities and delivering messages of support to neighbors through the video "Mapo inn, Village Intact," which was pre-produced over two days starting from the 25th and will be released via online media from October 12.

Every year, the Seoul Metropolitan Government holds the Seoul Village Week event to promote the significance and accomplishments of village communities, honor meritorious individuals, and discuss the future direction of village communities.

However, this year, to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the event is being held in a non-face-to-face format until the 30th and can be accessed on the Village Week website.

Meanwhile, as part of the autonomous district events for Seoul Village Week, Mapo-gu plans to present "Mapo inn, Village Intact," which includes various content videos, through the Village Week website and the Mapo-gu Village Autonomy Center website.

From October 12 to October 16, a relay video campaign featuring participants of Mapo-gu’s village community contest project "Creating a Better Village" will be posted twice daily (at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.).

On October 15 and 16, two types of videos produced in a visible radio format sharing the meaning and achievements of village communities will be posted at 2 p.m. each day.

In particular, the video posted on October 15 will be hosted by comedian Yoon Hyung-bin, featuring Mapo-gu Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun as a guest, who will introduce cases of village projects and share their achievements, while delivering warm messages of support to Mapo neighbors going through difficult times due to COVID-19 and other challenges.

On the 16th, a video hosted by comedian Jung Tae-ho will feature local youth and Mapo-gu council members discussing regional issues and youth concerns, seeking solutions, aiming to reach many young viewers.

Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun of Mapo-gu said, "Although it is regrettable that the event is held online, I am pleased that this autonomous district event for Seoul Village Week provides an opportunity to encourage the efforts of residents who have worked hard to restore the local community," adding, "I hope many residents receive messages of support and hope through the various videos prepared by the district."
