Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters Wins Overall Victory at National Firefighting Skills Competition... 8 Members Receive 'Special Promotion' Benefits

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters announced on the 28th that it won the overall championship at the 33rd National Firefighting Skills Competition held from the 16th to the 24th under the auspices of the National Fire Agency at Cheonan Central Fire Academy (fire, rescue, strongest) and Sejong Convention Center (emergency medical services).

This overall victory for the Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters is the first in four years since 2016. The competition, held annually to improve on-site response capabilities through disaster response skills training and physical conditioning, featured athletes selected nationwide competing in five events across four categories, showcasing the skills they have honed.

The Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters selected representatives through an internal selection competition in May for fire suppression (Yeongju), rescue (Uiseong), emergency medical services (Andong), and strongest firefighter (Yeongju, Seongju, Pohang South), and conducted intensive training. In this competition, the team event in the fire suppression category placed second, and in the individual event known as the highlight of the competition, the strongest firefighter contest, they achieved first and third place, securing the overall championship and receiving the Presidential Award.

Meanwhile, on the 28th, Gyeongbuk Province held a ceremony to report the competition results and present the overall championship flag of the National Firefighting Skills Competition, attended by about 30 people including Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Fire Headquarters Chief Nam Hwa-young, related officials, and athletes. Eight meritorious athletes were also specially promoted and appointed.
