[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seoul Facilities Corporation (Chairman Cho Sung-il·photo) was selected as the No. 1 facility management corporation among special and metropolitan city local governments for two consecutive years and awarded the 'Grade A (Highest)' institution in the 2020 Local Public Enterprise Management Evaluation hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
This evaluation was conducted through document and collective assessments in five areas?leadership and strategy, management performance, social value, etc.?targeting 249 local public enterprises nationwide.
The Local Public Enterprise Management Evaluation is a system hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to promote management improvement of local public enterprises and to enhance local autonomy development and customer service. This year's evaluation introduced the concept of 'sustainable management,' expanded scoring for leadership to enhance social responsibility management, and placed emphasis on disaster safety management.
The corporation received high praise for pioneering innovation in work methods and organizational culture through the introduction of the public sector's first shared innovation (open innovation) system and leading technological innovation by adopting Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies.
It also received excellent evaluations in the social value sector for efforts such as consideration for marginalized groups and the vulnerable, support for revitalizing the local economy, and strengthening safety capabilities using innovative technologies.
Key outstanding cases included the nation's first funeral support service for marginalized groups, support for youth startup stores at the DDP Fashion Mall as consideration for socially vulnerable groups, attracting national intelligent informatization projects, and efforts to secure golden evacuation time during sudden rainfall at enclosed construction sites to strengthen safety capabilities.
The corporation has been evaluated as successfully responding to the COVID-19 crisis by thoroughly implementing social distancing measures and disinfection activities at citizen-facing workplaces, maintaining business continuity plans with a proactive stance of 'responding as early as possible' to prevent any disruption in citizen services.
Furthermore, to prepare for the New Normal 2.0 era and the post-COVID era, it is leading urban space innovation by expanding the 'Smart Work Center,' preparing to introduce 'complex facilities utilizing 5G and remote technologies' reflecting the trend of remote content expansion, and promoting the expansion of open innovation for advanced inspection and diagnosis of road facilities in response to aging urban infrastructure.

Seoul Facilities Corporation is an investment institution under Seoul City that professionally manages various urban infrastructure closely related to the daily lives of Seoul citizens, such as Gocheok Sky Dome, Seoul World Cup Stadium, Cheonggyecheon, memorial facilities, expressways, underground shopping malls, and public bicycles.
