[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] On the 28th, Jeong Cheong-rae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, commented on the prosecution's decision of 'no charges' against those involved in the investigation of allegations of preferential military service for Minister Chu Mi-ae's son, Seo Mo (27), saying, "Minister Chu has only suffered greatly."

Jeong said in a post on his Facebook, "The Ministry of National Defense also found no issues, and the prosecution concluded there were no charges," expressing this view.

He questioned the People Power Party, which had emphasized the investigation into Minister Chu's allegations, asking, "Will the People Power Party now demand investigations by both the Ministry of National Defense and the prosecution?" and "Will they establish a Corruption Investigation Office to investigate the prosecution because they don't trust the prosecution's investigation announcement?"

He added, "The People Power Party, embarrassed after fervently stoking the fire, seems destined to become a burden to the people and cannot avoid public reproach," criticizing, "Those who have forcibly attached accusations, exaggerated matters, thrown tantrums, and even been reported for spreading false information will soon face their turn."

He continued, "The time of Chu Mi-ae is passing, and the time of Yoon Seok-yeol and former lawmaker Na Mo will come," asserting, "The case of Yoon Seok-yeol's mother-in-law, which was reassigned, and the case of the former People Power Party lawmaker will be served at the Chuseok table and will be investigated going forward."

Jeong added, "If the People Power Party wants to be a force for the people, it should avoid becoming a burden to the people," and said, "Minister Chu Mi-ae, you have suffered greatly, and I congratulate you on emerging from the quagmire."

Meanwhile, the prosecution, which investigated the 'leave extension allegations' involving Minister Chu's son Seo, decided on the 28th to dismiss charges against Minister Chu, Seo, and other key related individuals.

According to multiple media outlets, the prosecution did not indict Minister Chu, her son Seo, her former parliamentary aide A, and the then regional commander B of Seo's unit, citing no charges.
