[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) announced on the 28th that it will implement a comprehensive cleanliness plan during the Chuseok holiday to ensure a warm holiday in a clean and pleasant environment.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, a focused cleaning period for Chuseok will be conducted until the 4th of next month so that many citizens celebrating the holiday at home can have a comfortable and relaxing holiday.
During the focused cleaning period, Seo-gu plans to operate cleaning task forces (4 teams, 17 people), conduct mass cleaning by neighborhood, and run a cleanliness countermeasures situation room to handle various cleaning-related complaints in a one-stop manner.
Additionally, during the holiday period, street cleaners will be stationed at places with heavy resident traffic such as Gwangcheon Terminal, Yangdong Market, and entertainment districts to maintain city cleanliness. Normal collection of household waste will be carried out on the 30th and the 3rd of next month to minimize inconvenience to residents.
A Seo-gu official said, “We ask for residents’ voluntary cooperation in reducing household waste by adhering to the garbage collection schedule and disposal times (8 PM to 6 AM the next day), refraining from using disposable products, separating garbage properly, and reducing food waste during the holiday period.”
