"On the 6th, Let's Hold Emergency Questioning and a Resolution Condemning North Korea"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 28th, the People Power Party criticized the ruling party for failing to adopt a resolution condemning North Korea, saying, "The ruling party, which ignores the death of the people, has entered preparations for Chuseok after a noisy ceremonial act," and "The Democratic Party of Korea, which dodged here and there, ultimately disrupted the plenary session under the pretext of a hollow resolution condemning North Korea."
In a commentary on the same day, Bae Hyun-jin, the floor spokesperson for the People Power Party, said, "The title itself is wrong," adding, "A South Korean public official was brutally killed and burned in the line of duty due to North Korea's armed provocation, but the title of the Democratic Party's proposed resolution does not contain any words pointing to 'public official' or 'North Korean armed provocation.'
Bae also pointed out, "The content is even more serious. There is no mention of North Korea's specific atrocities, such as 'burning' the body of the deceased public official," and questioned, "Does this mean the Democratic Party cannot be certain about any of the allegations of murder and body incineration? Or is it a pathetic attempt to cover something up?"
Bae stated, "It is a weak resolution that fails to point out North Korea's full responsibility. It is filled only with the empty cry of 'Let the National Assembly urge,'" and asked, "What exactly did the Democratic Party intend to question and condemn North Korea for? Do they truly have the courage to condemn?"
Bae concluded, "On the 6th after the holiday, let us hold a plenary session of the National Assembly to conduct an urgent question session to the government and adopt a resolution condemning North Korea that contains the truth about the 'unjust sacrifice of the people of the Republic of Korea,' not a superficial condemnation," and said, "Who is the highest dignity of the Moon Jae-in administration and the Democratic Party? It must be the people of the Republic of Korea."
