Lecture on "The Mysterious Improper Solicitation and Graft Act You Should Know" by Ahn Young-jin, Expert Instructor at the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Integrity Training Institute, for about 1,500 employees from new hires on the 21st and 24th to district heads
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) reinforced its commitment to integrity through a customized non-face-to-face anti-corruption special lecture in response to COVID-19.
The non-face-to-face anti-corruption special lecture was conducted twice, on the 21st and 24th, targeting approximately 1,500 employees.
A Seongbuk-gu official stated, “The purpose was to provide easy-to-understand education on the key points of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act so that employees can actively apply it in actual administration, and to spread a transparent and honest organizational culture by raising awareness of integrity.”
The training was conducted under the theme “The Mysterious Improper Solicitation and Graft Act That Is Useful to Know,” delivered by Ahn Young-jin, a professional instructor from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission’s Integrity Training Institute. It covered not only the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act but also the Code of Conduct for Public Officials, eradication of power harassment, and other essential topics public officials must know.
Due to difficulties in conducting face-to-face training amid COVID-19, the sessions were held online. The instructor delivered the special lecture live from the Seongbuk Art Hall in the district office, which was broadcast live so that employees could learn from their own desks via screen. After the lecture, a final evaluation was conducted to review the learned content.
Additionally, by utilizing the office’s broadcasting equipment for in-house training, about 6.6 million KRW in budget was saved.
An employee who participated in the special lecture said, “I thought it would be boring because it was non-face-to-face, but I was actually more focused. The explanations were easy to understand and enjoyable because they were case-centered using video materials from movies and dramas.”
Meanwhile, Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “Integrity is the most essential virtue for public officials, and it can never be emphasized enough. The integrity of each employee forms the basic framework that makes Seongbuk-gu, and ultimately society as a whole, constructive and healthy.” He urged all employees to continuously practice integrity to realize transparent and trustworthy administration.
Currently, Seongbuk-gu designates the fourth Wednesday of every month as “Integrity Seongbuk Day,” conducts the “Zero Corruption Integrity Quiz,” and promotes integrity through twice-weekly “Integrity Morning Broadcasts.” The district also fosters employees’ anti-corruption and integrity awareness through “Integrity Self-Learning,” which automatically runs an integrity pop-up window before work starts, implementing various integrity policies.
