Fever Screening (Thermal Detection) Conducted for All Passengers Before Boarding Buses at Local Passenger Bus Terminals During Chuseok Holiday... Seocho-gu, Terminal Officials, and Transport Companies Collaborate Continuously for Passenger Safety
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seocho-gu (District Mayor Eunhee Cho) will conduct fever checks (thermal detection) on all passengers before boarding buses at three passenger bus terminals located in Seocho-gu (Seoul Express Bus Terminal, Central City Terminal, Seoul Nambu Terminal) to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the long Chuseok holiday in enclosed buses.
This measure by the district is separate from the emergency administrative order and is the result of continuous consultations between Seocho-gu, terminal officials, and transportation companies, working together to ensure the safety of all passengers from COVID-19.
Despite the difficult situation due to significant revenue declines caused by COVID-19, terminals and transportation companies are doing their best to ensure that passengers can use the terminals with peace of mind during the Chuseok holiday.
At Seoul Nambu Terminal, 25 transportation companies are conducting fever checks on passengers. At Central City Terminal and Seoul Express Bus Terminal, on the 29th and 30th when many homebound travelers gather, the access routes from the terminal waiting rooms to the boarding platforms will be adjusted to six each, and a total of 12 additional thermal cameras (six at each terminal) will be installed to conduct thermal detection on all homebound travelers.
Since January, the district has operated thermal cameras at six locations within passenger terminals to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Ahead of the large-scale Chuseok holiday movement, AI quarantine robots have been deployed at local passenger terminals to block COVID-19. The district has also proposed to central government agencies an emergency administrative order requiring mandatory fever checks before bus boarding for terminal users.
Seocho District Mayor Eunhee Cho stated, “We will make further efforts to create an environment where homebound and returning travelers can use the facilities with confidence through strengthened quarantine measures during the Chuseok holiday.” She added, “We ask passengers to actively participate and cooperate with the enhanced social distancing measures during Chuseok by minimizing the use of multi-use facilities and complying with quarantine rules.”
