'Completion of Administrative Capital' Launch of Chungcheong Region Civil-Government-Political Community of Shared Destiny

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] A public-private-government coalition for resolving pending issues in the Chungcheong region, including the completion of the administrative capital, has been formed and launched.

According to Daejeon City on the 29th, Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, and Chungbuk held the launch ceremony of the "Chungcheong Region Public-Private-Government Council for the Completion of the Administrative Capital and National Balanced Development" (hereinafter referred to as the Council) the day before.

The Council consists of 20 members, including representatives from the four cities and provinces of the Chungcheong region, their councils, and private organizations. The Council's activities will focus on follow-up measures such as revising the National Assembly Act for the construction of the National Assembly building in Sejong and the smooth promotion of Innovation City Season 2, including the additional designation of innovation cities in Daejeon and Chungnam and the relocation of public institutions to local areas.

The Council sets the completion of the administrative capital as a core project for national balanced development and local decentralization realization, with the Chungcheong region taking a leading role in completing Sejong City's administrative capital, centered on the Council.

To this end, the Council envisions supporting swift political decision-making necessary for the completion of the administrative capital beyond political parties, ideologies, and regions, and spreading national consensus throughout the country.

Additionally, campaigns such as signature drives and Blue House public petitions, as well as policy forums, will be conducted to promote the additional designation of innovation cities in Daejeon and Chungnam and the further relocation of public institutions within Chungbuk Innovation City.

Heo Tae-jung, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, "The Council is a public-private-government coalition of the Chungcheong region that will create a model for the practical completion of the administrative capital and national balanced development," adding, "Daejeon will spare no effort to support Sejong City in becoming the administrative capital with practical functions, including the construction of the National Assembly building in Sejong and the relocation of the Blue House."

He also emphasized, "Along with the completion of the administrative capital, the Council will strive to complete the final puzzle of national balanced development through the designation of innovation cities in Daejeon and Chungnam," and added, "We will also concentrate our capabilities to ensure that Daejeon and Chungnam pass the final gateway for innovation city designation and lead the coexistence and development of the Chungcheong region."
