Interviewers at Busan Headquarters, Candidates Distributed Across 6 Regional Headquarters to Prevent COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) announced on the 28th that it has introduced video interviews for the first time among public institutions in the regular full-time employee recruitment process to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of interviewees.
Due to the spread of COVID-19, KAMCO replaced the existing group face-to-face interview method with a remote non-face-to-face video conferencing system from the 22nd to the 25th for four days to conduct the first round of interviews for full-time recruitment-type youth interns. Approximately 240 video interviewees could visit one of six regional headquarters (Seoul, Suwon in Gyeonggi, Busan, Gwangju, Daejeon, Daegu) of their choice, where they were connected via video to interviewers at the Busan headquarters to conduct Q&A and other interview activities.
Equipped with a nationwide video conferencing network, KAMCO utilized the networks of the six regional headquarters to establish the video interview system. It also conducted simulations and prepared emergency plans over about three months to prepare thoroughly against possible IT system failures.
KAMCO explained that it differentiated interview locations and times for each candidate to prevent contact between candidates in advance, and complied with government quarantine guidelines such as temperature checks for all, wearing masks and gloves, and operating individual waiting rooms for candidates.
Moon Sung-yoo, President of KAMCO, said, “We prioritized blocking the spread of COVID-19 and newly introduced video interviews to recruit excellent talent and conduct fair evaluations suited to the changed environment. We will continue to make innovative efforts for youth job creation and fair selection.”
Meanwhile, KAMCO is currently publicly recruiting about 69 recruitment-type youth interns in seven fields including Grade 5 general finance, management, economics, law, architecture, IT, and records management, as well as Grade 6 general finance, and plans to conduct the second round of interviews in October.
