November G20 Summit Focuses on Overcoming COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Saudi Arabia, the chair country of the Group of Twenty (G20), announced that the upcoming summit in November will be held via video conference.


On the 27th (local time), Saudi Arabia stated in a press release that the G20 summit scheduled for November 21-22 will be conducted online.

This summit plans to focus on protecting lives and restoring economic growth by addressing vulnerabilities revealed by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).


Saudi Arabia introduced, "The G20 has contributed 21 billion USD (24.65 trillion KRW) for COVID-19 diagnostic reagents, treatments, vaccine production, and distribution." It added, "The G20 has poured 11 trillion USD to protect the global economy and has deferred debt repayments amounting to 14 billion USD due this year by underdeveloped countries."
