[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, stated on the 28th regarding the incident of the North Korean shooting of a missing public official from Yeonpyeong Island, "An investigation at the National Assembly level is absolutely necessary," and added, "If the Democratic Party of Korea does not accept the emergency question session, we will pursue this issue to the end through a state audit or a parliamentary inspection."
At the emergency countermeasure meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Floor Leader Joo said, "The life of every citizen of the Republic of Korea is truly precious, and the president has the duty to protect it," and lamented, "Some even said on SNS or in comments that if the Ministry of National Defense had made even half the effort that Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae made to save her son, such an incident would not have happened."
He pointed out, "The Democratic Party is refusing to adopt even the resolution condemning North Korea and is not convening the plenary session because they fear various problems will be revealed during the emergency question session," and added, "The people gave the Democratic Party 180 seats in the general election. I do not believe they intended to give them the power to not even open a plenary session regarding the brutal killing of a South Korean public official by North Korea."
Floor Leader Joo said, "If the Democratic Party uses its power to cover up the government's mistakes, the people will surely punish them," and strongly demanded, "There is still time, so I strongly urge the convening of the plenary session to at least adopt the resolution condemning North Korea that has passed the National Defense Committee."
