[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] KOTRA announced on the 28th that it will hold the 'New Southern Business Week' for two days starting from the 13th of next month at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul.
KOTRA organized this economic cooperation week together with the New Southern Policy Special Committee. Due to COVID-19, various non-face-to-face programs such as online business consultations, web seminars, virtual reality (VR) experiences, and online startup pitching will be presented.
The New Southern region includes the 10 ASEAN countries and India. In 2019, the trade volume between Korea and these countries reached 172 billion dollars, emerging as our second largest trading partner. Accordingly, KOTRA planned this event to expand cooperation areas to future new industries, overseas investment, smart cities, and to achieve mutual growth and prosperity as future partners.
This event will feature various programs such as ▲New Southern Business Partnership ▲New Southern Smart City Video Consultations ▲New Southern Investment Cooperation Web Seminars ▲New Southern Startup Consultations. Two hundred domestic companies wishing to enter the New Southern region and 200 buyers recruited through KOTRA's overseas network will participate. A total of 250 consultations will be conducted in the fields of medical, machinery, IT, startups, and smart cities. The diplomatic corps in Korea will also introduce each country's investment environment and successful cooperation cases.
Kwon Pyung-oh, President of KOTRA, said, "The whole world is struggling due to COVID-19, but a true friend is one who stands by you in difficult times," and added, "We hope for much interest and participation in New Southern cooperation for mutual growth and prosperity."
