Military Mutual Aid Association Visits National Veterans for Chuseok Greetings

[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The Military Mutual Aid Association announced on the 28th that it delivered consolation money and gifts to four individuals, including Korean War veterans and recipients of military merit awards, as well as 19 members of the Military Mutual Aid Association who are facing difficult family circumstances, ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

The Military Mutual Aid Association's volunteer consolation activities for national veterans, which began in 2013, are now in their eighth year. The association receives recommendations for national veterans residing in local areas from the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and visits each household during holidays and the Month of Patriots and Veterans to conduct consolation activities. In recognition of these efforts, the association received a plaque of appreciation from the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs in 2019. Although employees have visited the homes of national veterans in person every year to continue the volunteer consolation activities, this year, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing measures, direct visits were inevitably omitted.

Kim Do-ho, Chairman of the Military Mutual Aid Association, said, “Although it is a small gesture, we hope it brings warmth to the holiday season. The Military Mutual Aid Association will continue to take the lead in ensuring that the sacrifices and dedication of patriotic ancestors are remembered for a long time.”
