Toyota has made investments to increase production in Mexico and China.
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Toyota Motor Korea announced on the 28th that it will purchase 1,000 boxes of fruit from orchards damaged by heavy rains and consecutive typhoons and donate them to vulnerable groups.
The fruit, prepared through the social enterprise ‘Nongsafund,’ which directly connects local farmers and consumers, will be delivered to vulnerable groups through the homeless shelter ‘Anna’s House,’ where volunteer activities have been regularly conducted, and the non-profit children’s protection organization ‘Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation.’
Nobuyuki Takemura, President of Toyota Motor Korea, said, “I hope this small comfort will reach the farmers who are deeply saddened by the consecutive typhoons just before harvest and those going through difficult times due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).”
Meanwhile, Toyota Motor Korea donated 50 million KRW to the Korea Rural Leaders Central Association in November last year to support typhoon-damaged farms. In February this year, it donated 100 million KRW to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and in August, it donated 100 million KRW to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association to support flood victims.
