Chungnam to Provide Special Care Support Fund for Children Under Age 7

[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province will provide special care support funds to households with children under the age of 7 residing in the region.

The province announced on the 28th that it will provide a special support of 200,000 KRW per child to households with preschool children under the age of 7 who are eligible for child allowance.

The support targets are preschool children born between January 2014 and September 2020, totaling 110,763 children, who have received or are scheduled to receive child allowance as of this month.

The province plans to deposit the special care support funds into the accounts receiving child allowance for eligible households before Chuseok without a separate application. Among these, children under the care of child care facilities will receive the funds through Didim Seed Savings Accounts.

However, children born this month who applied for child allowance within 60 days will receive the care support funds together with the regular child allowance payment by December this year.

Separately, the province plans to pay 200,000 KRW for elementary school-aged children and 150,000 KRW for middle school-aged children to the Chungnam Provincial Office of Education’s school banking accounts, and 150,000 KRW to out-of-school children through applications and registration via the Education Support Office.

Lee Tae-gyu, Director of the Birth and Childcare Policy Division of the province, said, “We hope the special child care support funds will help reduce the burden on child-rearing households and create a stable childcare environment,” adding, “The province will make every effort to ensure prompt payment so that positive effects can occur in the local economy.”
