Busan City Provides 200,000 Won per Preschool Child for Care Support... No Separate Application Needed
City Education Office Offers 200,000 Won per Elementary Student Including Out-of-School Children, 150,000 Won per Middle School Student
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Starting from the 28th, cash payments of 200,000 KRW per person will be given to preschool children and elementary school students in Busan. Middle school students will receive 150,000 KRW per person.
This "Special Childcare Support Project" was approved by the National Assembly on the 22nd to alleviate the increased burden of childcare at home caused by COVID-19 and the closure of daycare centers.
140,000 preschool children residing in Busan can receive the "Special Childcare Support Fund" starting from the 28th through their September child allowance payment accounts without any separate application process.
Children born in August and September 2020 are also included in the payment target if they apply for the child allowance within 60 days of birth.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will provide support funds to school-age children, including those outside of school, to assist with childcare and non-face-to-face learning.
Elementary school-age children will receive 200,000 KRW per person, and middle school-age children will receive 150,000 KRW per person.
Elementary and middle school students will receive the support funds via school banking through their individual schools without a separate application process; however, children outside of school must apply separately at the local education support office of their residence.
Jeon Hye-sook, Director of the Busan City Women's and Family Bureau, said, "As children's outdoor activities have been difficult due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, we hope this special childcare support will be a small help to families raising children."
